What Does It Mean To Be a Money Badass?

You’ll hear me talk about becoming a Money Badass all the time on this site.

I want you to be a Money Badass, but what is a Money Badass and how do you become a Money Badass?

I wanted to share with you why I’ve created this program and how it can make huge change in your life.

First off, I have to briefly tell you about that “ah ha” moment that brought me to the point in my life where I had to make a big change.

How I Became a Money Badass

I can still remember vividly when I finally made the choice to change my financial life for good.

I couldn’t sleep because I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to pay the mortgage for my house, let alone, day to day things like sports fees for my kids. I was so stressed I would come home from work and just lay down in bed because I felt so helpless.

I had worked so hard to get my bachelor’s degree and even certifications for my career but I just couldn’t make it financially.

It just didn’t make sense.

I did everything I had been told to live a successful life and here I was worrying that I wouldn’t be able to make the mortgage payment on my house.

On top of all that, I got served with divorce papers and had to give up half of everything I owned and I even gave up my house.

I ended up moving out of my home and into a rental property I owned in a not so great part of town.

Financially, I had hit rock bottom.

I knew it was time for a complete life change.

I knew I needed to figure out a way to be able to afford paying my bills and any other things that my family needed without stress so I could live the life I knew I should be with my children.

The problem was that I couldn’t afford my current situation and it was burying me further in debt.

I was scared, stressed, and embarrassed of the situation I had got myself into. Its hard telling your kids no you can’t participate in sports or events because your so broke you literally can’t afford it.

So, I decided it was time for a change.

Time For a Money Change

I began learning everything I could about money. How to make money, how to invest money, and how to manage money.

I learned awesome strategies that could totally transform my financial situation, but it wasn’t working. I would find great money tips, but no cohesive plan to follow from start to finish that would fix my money situation.

It wasn’t working because, my financial situation was unsustainable. I had more bills and expenses than I could handle.

No matter how hard I tried to budget, to save money, and invest my money, I couldn’t keep it, because the bills were pouring in.

I felt like a failure yet again with no hope of fixing the situation. I contemplated just handing the keys to my home back to the bank and just walking away, but I had no idea where to go.

When I was at my most rock bottom financial point it hit me.

I was reading online about people who had embraced minimalism and how it had changed their life for the better.

It made me realize what I needed to do. No, I didn’t go full on minimalism, but it made me realize I needed a BIG change.

I needed to start over.

I was in a hole that was too hard to escape. I needed to forget about the past, the problems, the failures, and start over from scratch.

That’s exactly what I did.

I knew that everything I had learned about money would work if I started fresh.

I sold everything I didn’t really need. I realized I was trapped in a materialistic life that I just didn’t need.

I had a Mercedes Benz that was draining me. I traded it in and I switched to a Toyota Prius.

I cancelled all my monthly bills I didn’t need like cable and expensive phone plans. I cleaned out everything that was costing me a lot of money.

Once I had eliminated the wasteful expenses I sat down on my computer and mapped out every thing I had learned about money and built it into a step-by-step plan that I could use to start fresh with my money. This later became my program, “The Badass Money Handbook”.

I began implementing the plan step-by-step and I was making progress. I was finally able to pay the bills and had begun to actually save money.

Everything was beginning to look up and suddenly I ran into a brick wall.

I filed my taxes and nearly cried when I saw the massive tax bill I owed.

It pretty much wiped out all the progress I had made. It was devastating. I felt like I would never get ahead.

I wanted to quit.

I thought to myself, I could just stop and go back to my old ways and continue to struggle or I could push through this and climb over this obstacle.

I knew I had no choice, I had to overcome this obstacle to get to where I wanted to go.

I contacted the IRS and created a payment plan to pay off that debt. It was that simple.

With a payment plan in place I got back on track with my plan. I continued on my journey and after a couple months it felt like I had reached the light at the end of the tunnel.

How Becoming a Money Badass Changed My Life

By following the plan I had created, I was no longer burying myself in debt. I was no longer struggling to pay the bills. I could afford to take my family out to dinner if we wanted.

I had achieved my goal of reaching financial success.

I was thrilled. After so much struggle, life was good. I was happy.

But, after I reached that point, I realized something bigger had happened in my life. I didn’t just achieve my goal of reaching financial success.

A new me was born that had a totally different mindset about life and money in general.

I was no longer consumed by materialism and the desire to buy, buy, buy. I was happy with what I had and the freedom that came with that.

For the first time in my life I was content. I was happy, my family was happy, and there was no turning back. That change in my mindset was just as valuable as the goal I had been trying to reach all along.

I was a new me, a better me, and I had reached my financial goal.

I had become a Money Badass and I want you to become a Money Badass too.

If you’ve ever thought that the government and the banks actually want you to fail, you’re probably right. They don’t benefit from you succeeding. They want to keep you in debt and in need. The difference with us that we actually care about your success and truly want to see you living the life of your dreams.
