What are your favorite books related to money?

I loved Suze Orman’s “The Courage to be Rich.” She provides practical money management lessons and emphasizes the importance of valuing people over things.

What are your favorite apps related to money?

As someone who loves to save money my favorite money related apps are Ibotta and the Target Cartwheel app

What is the worst money advice you hear?

Don’t worry about retirement it is a long way off.

What money advice would you give your 25 year old self starting out in life?

Try to enjoy money a little more and be less stressed. I was a diligent saver even as a young child and didn’t truly enjoy spending it.

Do you have any financial habits you live by?

Absolutely! Max out my retirement contributions every year. As Suze Orman stresses, “pay yourself first” before spending on discretionary things. Consistently negotiate whenever possible and use coupons and shop sales to maximize my savings.

What is #1 thing people should do today for a better financial life?

Save for retirement. Even if you can’t max out your savings, contribute to a retirement account if possible. You will never regret it.

Did you overcome any personal failures to get where you are today?

I wouldn’t say student loans for collage are a failure, but I had several thousand in loans and when I finally got them paid off it was very freeing.

What was the turning point in your life to become financially successful?

When my husband and I bought our first house. We waited for years till we had the down payment we wanted and found the best deal we could. That ended up being a good investment for us and it impacted our wealth.

What steps did you take after that turning point?

Try to not accumulate much debt and live within or even below our means.
